The Japanese Embassy in Beijing is telling Japanese residents to remain careful, as large-scale anti-Japan protests have taken place in China.
Saturday saw demonstrations against Japan in Chengdu in Sichuan Province and two other big cities.
The protesters proclaimed China's sovereignty over the Senkaku Islands in Japanese waters in the East China Sea.
Some demonstrators got violent, causing damage at Japanese-owned stores.
On Sunday, policemen provided security around the Japanese Embassy, a Japanese supermarket in Chengdu, and other Japanese establishments.
In central Miangyang, about 11o kilometers from Chengdu, another big anti-Japan demonstration took place.
A witness said at least 1,000 people, including what looked like students, marched on the street calling for a boycott of Japanese products.
What seems to be a photograph of the demonstration posted on the Internet shows many people surrounding what's believed to be a Japanese car with a broken windshield.
