1998-1999

Left Japan

By myself, all by myself, I had prepared everything.
From little things, such as asking school to pick me up from the airport,
to the critical issues, such as applying visa and booking airplane ticket,
I have done everything without any help.
The girl, I, started long lasting journey from the little station by the Pacific Ocean.
I had a big heavy suitcase, a big black bag, a little carrying case, and brown purse.
Those luggages were so much for my little body, but I did not feel any burden to those facts.

My mind were filled with all the hopes toward my favorite place, USA.

Sep.1998-Dec.1998

I did not have any problems with using English in daily life,
but I could not catch up with English with normal speed,
such as TV.
I was worried about adjusting myself into new school life, somehow I could manage day by day.
I now wonder how I could study with such poor English ability.
I could not understand even half of what teachers say in the class.
Anyway, one of my roommates, Jennifer invited me for Thanksgiving break.
Then, my first term was over and my first Christmas in the US had came.
Fortunately, my district leaders invited me for two weeks.
Most of my international friends had to spend the break in the quiet campus because they did not have any place to go.
But, luckly, I could experience Christmas with American family.
Moreover, a good thing was that people gave me presents!

Jan.1999-Dec.1999

未完成、to be finished up
I don’t quite remember what happened each day. What I remember is that I studied very hard. Days, weeks, and months passed amazingly quickly.
