Not only Oasis but Coldplay released a new album as well. It is their 3rd album. I think their 2nd 'A Rush of Blood to The Head' did not surpass 'Parachutes'......How is this time? I am looking forward to listening.Funny thing is, both albums (Oasis and Coldplay) were released ahead of their home countries. Plus there are some special tracks in the Japan's version, as is often the case. Maybe we are expected as great customers. And.......I won't disappoint their expectation :-)

Oasis released a new album after an interval of 3 years. I am glad they seem to use their original logo again. I must go and have a listen ASAP.

If you are interested in Japanese rock, you must listen to Asian Kung-Fu Generation. They have released three albums ever, and every one is brilliant. In very early times of the band they made songs in English. Now their lyrics are written in Japanese but English verse style still remains......they try to write the Japanese lyrics in rhyme. My favourite tune is 'Kaigan-doori' (Seaside road) that is in their 3rd album 'Solfa.' I like its beautiful melody and lyrics. It says :-'We do not have this, we do not have that,We are such greeds wanting to get everything what we want. But the breeze tenderly blows as if it embraces us, the pieces of shortcomingswhile the sea is calm at sunset.Petals of spring flowers are fluttering down at the seaside road'

Today, let's go exploring in my house for something Japanese! From what I heard, Western people do not use any kind of mimikaki. Then, I wonder, what do they use when they feel like cleaning their ears? A cotton bud, they would reply. But I will never be satisfied with it. Cotton buds feel too mild. The tool must be Mimikaki, which is generally made of bamboo, therefore far more rigid than cotton. Not only splendid in function, Mimikaki is full of variety in design on its end. In fact I collect them. When I take a trip in Japan I would buy a mimikaki as a souvenir. They are so charming and attractive.....In contrast, poor cotton buds! :-)

Many of the Japanese wear masks when they get a cold. If I am ordered to make an illustration of a person having a cold, I would draw a mask made of white cloth on his face. Because it represents a cold. People put on masks when they feel they have a cold....I thought it as a matter of course. But one day my colleage from England told me that it is a custom peculiar to Japan. He said it was useless for avoiding virus in and out. Yes, that's right, and I knew that. Not only myself, I guess many of people wearing masks should know it is practically useless....Then, why we do that? Wearing masks has two main effects :- 1. He can inform others he is having a cold without any explanation. 2. He can inform others he is a person of thoughtfulness who tries his best not to give others his cold.

Having nothing particular to do during the Golden Week this year, I have been watching rental DVDs '24 part 1.' I watch part 2 on FOX TV along with those DVDs, so I can tell how the story of part 1 will go on. That makes it less exciting and as such I prefer part 2.....no wonder it is much more suspensing to me. I began to think I keep renting those DVDs only to get a basic knowledge of the drama. Never mind.

We are in the middle of the Golden Week, which follows Greenery Day, April 29. They say it is not a good time to visit Japan as wherever you go you would find extraordinary crowd. But it is only for holiday resorts. This year I decided to stay near home over the Golden Week, and then, there is no problem. I say the best time to travel to Japan is spring, especially May. The weather is at its best, warm and comfortable. You can see fresh green and flowers grace landscapes not only in rural areas but in urban areas. So I walked to Kichijoji (which is my favorite downtown near home) enjoying the green. Of course I saw a crowd in Kichijoji as well, but it was a usual crowd, not extraordinary one. I enjoyed my usual route and had a break at a cafe. I couldn't have felt better :-)

I started learning English 5 years ago. I decided it just by impulse, but the more I took the lessons, the more I found the pleasure of learning second language. Talking of the pleasure of speaking foreign language, I always visualise something....It is one scene from the film ‘Close Encounters of The Third Kind’. People in the film do trial and error to find some musical scales to communicate with aliens. At last people send some scales nervously to the spacecraft.....‘Pi-Po-Pa-Po-Pi’....then it replies! People achieve to get their goodwill across to the third kind and make friends with them. Yes! The thrill we feel at the scene, it is exactly what I think of as the pleasure of speaking foreign language.I am often asked by western people why I am studying English....every time I am asked the question, the thought comes across my mind “How about talking of the film? It must tell my real feelings correctly”. But I have not tried it yet. I have a fear....what if he or she gets angry at my words and say “Hey Tirol, am I an alien?!”
