For some, the 2013 SRX SUV will offer all the power that they need, but there are others who are going to question why Cadillac did not go with a V8 engine in such a large sport utility vehicle. A 3.6-DOHC 24-valve V6 engine wil pair up with a six-speed automatic transmission to deliver 308 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. While this is nothing to turn your nose up at, it just seems that there should be more.
The SRX is a front-wheel drive vehicle, but all-wheel drive is available. It is suggested that accelerating zero to 60 mph will take between 7.5 and 8 seconds, which is not bad, but it sort of fizzles out a little at this point. If Cadillac kept the engine a V6 so they could use fuel-economy as a strong selling point, then they failed miserably. Although gas mileage is not horrible, at 16 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway, one can’t help but expect more, if they are going to go with a V6. As for ride, Cadillac never disappoints with their suspension.
As always, you can expect technology and entertainment to be strong selling points for the 2013 Cadillac SRX SUV.
Although CUE is the main attraction, the SRX will also offer HD radio, ambient lighting, keyless entry, heated seats and steering wheel, power sunroof, keyless entry and sun sensor. OnStar telecommunications is free for the first few months, and then available to add on.
Although the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has not released crash result tests yet, one cannot help but assume it will be the same as last year’s model. For 2012, the SRX was given a “Good” rating in frontal, side and roof crash tests. No significant changes have been made so this should be about the same. Safety features you can expect to see on the 2013 model include:
• Forward collision alert
• Lane departure warning
• Rearview camera
• Emergency braking assist
• 4-wheel ABS
• Child seat anchors
• Rear door safety locks
• Dusk sensing headlamps
• Traction control
• Engine immobilizer
• Stability control
• Post-collision safety system
• Tire-pressure monitoring
• Emergency braking preparation
• Front seatbelt pretensioners
Not much has changed for the 2013 body year, but then again, not much had to. The body is chiseled in a way that you know that it is a Cadillac without seeing any emblems. The iconic grille is repeated lower in the bumper and yellow reflective film has been added to the headlamps. This is just a good-looking SUV from any angle and of course, those 20-inch chrome and polished aluminum wheels add the finishing touch.
The interior is so elegant that it is almost disturbing, but in a good way! There are going to be a few different layouts for instrument clusters. They will either be shockingly simple like the Volt, or they will have almost all information displayed on a media center.
p>Like its predecessor, the cabin will get strong points when it comes to legroom, however rear seat adult passengers may find their head grazing the ceiling. Other than that, it is hard to find fault with such a luxurious, comfortable, silent and well thought-out cabin; an area Cadillac excels in.The 2013 Cadillac SRX SUVpretty much blows much of its competition away, when it comes to cargo space. With the rear seat in place, you are granted 61.1 cubic feet, but if the seat down, 100.6 cubic feet of space opens up. You will not have to leave any luggage or golf clubs behind on your road trip.
