The 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid SUV was released recently with features that are sure to please even the most discerning hybrid car enthusiasts. The styling of the vehicle is exquisite. The way the simple lines of the body contrast against the beefy grill and aggressive wheels, a harmonic balance is created. The cabin is laid out well with controls where you would want them; however it does lack a modern feel. The front seat seems a little too tall and the vehicle just does not compete against others in this segment when it comes to cargo space with all seats in place. Still, there is something regal about the overall picture.

This unique sport utility vehicle is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine that produces 177 horsepower and 136 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired up with a continuously variable transmission, which allows power to transition between electric and gas modes as needed. It accelerates zero to 60 mph in around 9 seconds, which may be a little sleepy compared to competitors, but the gas mileage makes up for it, returning 34 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

This hybrid was definitely designed with safety in mind. It received a "Good" rating on frontal-offset and side-impact crash tests; however it did only rate as "Marginal" in roof-strength tests. Just a few of the many standard features include ABS, airbags galore, emergency braking assist, engine immobilizer, electronic brakeforce distribution, tire pressure monitoring, child seat anchors, rear door safety locks and a post-collision safety system. This is a vehicle you can feel confident in, whether you are driving in desirable conditions or not!

The 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid SUV's outer shell was improved from the previous 2008 version. The belt line on this year's model is a bit raised, which gives the car a tougher look. Also, the hood features a reverse crease design, which draws your attention to the power hub of the vehicle. The design was specifically built to put extra emphasis on the performance capability of the 2011 Ford Escape Hybrid SUV, and comes with head lamps that sweep up to the corners. The grille was upgraded but there are still some critics who claim that it is oversized and ugly. According to hybrid car lovers, the grille is just one of the many reasons as to why they love the 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid SUV.
