Performance

To say the 2013 Infiniti FX SUV Crossover gives you plenty of power would be an understatement. With this vehicle, you get your choice of fast and extra-fast! Standard is a 3.7-liter V6 mated to a seven-speed automatic to deliver 325 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Zero to 60 mph is achieved in a brisk 6.6 seconds, but fuel economy is less than desirable, returning 17 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. For a more thrilling experience, FX50 is motivated by a 5.0-liter V8 good for 390 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque. Acceleration gets even more impressive, taking only 5.5 seconds to reach 60 mph, but fuel economy is even worse, yielding 16 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway. All-wheel drive is optional across the lineup. Taking FX for a test drive is sure to seal the deal as handling is quite remarkable. Downshifts are executed quickly and smoothly, steering is tight and the vehicle’s road-holding prowess is impressive. This is a crossover that will inspire you to take the long way home down that winding mountain road. Plus, it has a turning circle of only 36.7 feet, so maneuvering and parking in tight spaces won’t be a problem.

Technology

• Audio - The available 11-speaker Bose audio system is fantastic. It includes two subwoofers, CD player, USB interface, auxiliary jack and XM® Satellite Radio.
• Navigation - The available touchscreen navigation system is hard drive-based and recognizes voice commands. BirdView™ perspective is supported by the high resolution screen. It even offers Lane Guidance, so you know which lane you should be in when you approach an exit or interchange.
• Rear Seat Entertainment System - The dual DVD entertainment system features colored monitors that are mounted on the back of the front headrests. A wireless remote and two pair of wireless headphones are included.

Safety

When tested by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Infiniti FX received top safety scores in frontal-offset protection. Braking capabilities are respectable, taking 124 feet to stop from 60 mph. A unique feature the vehicle offers is that if it detects the potential for a front collision, the driver will receive a warning and braking may be automatically applied, if necessary. The double triangular shaped headlamps and iconic grille create an aggressive appearance from the front while unique wheels and a rear roof spoiler make sure the vehicle looks good from every angle.

Comfort

You instantly feel as though you are being enveloped in luxury when you slip behind the wheel, and essentially you are. The first thing you notice is that you melt into comfortable seats that are covered in supple leather. Then, you appreciate the soft touch surfaces, brushed metal accents, rich wood trims and cool ambient lighting. Not one detail has been overlooked; even the operating system is intuitive yet simple to use. Although the cabin is by far one of the best you will find in this segment, it does have a flaw; the sloping roof line. That exaggerated slope may look great on the outside, but it compromises headroom of rear seat passengers. Legroom is also a concern for taller people in the back.

Cargo

Infiniti FX is not designed to attract the buyer looking for a ton of cargo space. Behind the rear seat you can make use of 25 cubic feet full time. Fold the seats down and only 62 cubes are opened up behind the front seat.
