Performance

If you want the performance of a V8 at a lower price, you will take a good look at the 2013 Porsche Cayenne V6 ; it has a lot to offer. The engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with direct fuel injection that offers variable timing on the inlet and exhaust.

Paired up with a six-speed manual transmission, Cayenne V6 accelerates zero to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds, due to 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. It also offers impressive towing capabilities at a maximum load of 5,952, when properly equipped. Fuel-economy is 15 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway, which in all fairness should be a lot better, considering the engine size and aerodynamic styling.

The six-speed manual gearbox shifts beautifully, but some drivers may want to opt for the optional eight-speed Tiptronic S, which will also improve fuel-economy.

The ride in the V6 is smooth sailing, thanks to the four-wheel independent air suspension that features ride height control and self-leveling for enhanced driving and comfort. As far as handling is concerned, this SUV corners beautifully as steering is precise and crisp.

Technology

• Rear Entertainment System: LCD screens in the back of the front headrests will keep rear seat passengers occupied as they play video games or watch movies.
• Audio: A CDR audio system comes with a 7-inch touchscreen display, MP3 compatible CD player, radio with double tuner and 10 speakers.
• Bluetooth: Integrated with the CDR system, Bluetooth allows you to connect with your phone, without taking your hands off the wheel.
• HomeLink: Program your garage door, security system and community gate all to this one universal remote.

Safety

Although crash and brake testing has not been done on the Cayenne V6, you can assume that it will be able to stop in a respectable distance, as Porsche is world-renowned for their ceramic composite brakes. Also, the stability management uses a few different functions to monitor speed, direction, lateral acceleration and yew velocity to determine if the vehicle is over or under-steering in any situation and then helps to restore stability. A few safety features include:

• Airbags with impact sensors
• Antitheft
• Tire pressure monitoring
• Emergency braking assist
• Stability control
• Electronic brakeforce distribution
• Front seatbelt pretensioners
• Dusk sensing headlamps
• Child seat anchors
• Engine immobilizer
• Rear door safety locks

Appearance

The Cayenne V6 is a fantastic looking vehicle. It is youthful yet sophisticated and sporty yet reserved. The curved hood and fascia flow harmoniously to create a sloped roof, which is finished off by a spoiler. Rounded, triangular headlamps, roof racks, privacy glass and 18-inch alloy wheels add just a few of the many points of interest that the vehicle has to offer.

Comfort

Seating for five never looked so good. Premium materials throughout are showcased by an abundance of details, like special stitching on the seats. Front seats are well cushioned and supportive and the rear seat is equally as comfortable. Whether you sit in the front or the rear, you will enjoy plenty of leg and head room.

Although the dash does have a lot of controls, they are thoughtfully placed. Most consumers will want to take a little time getting acquainted with everything before trying to find their way around cabin features while on the road.

Cargo

With all seats in place, you receive 23.7 cubic feet. However, the rear seat unlocks and folds effortlessly to open up a total of 62.9 cubic feet.
