Used 2011 Bentley Continental Supersports Review & Ratings

The 2012 Bentley Continental Supersports represents the British car maker's attempt at a truly compelling sport/luxury car. With a tremendous engine, opulent luxury and stiff suspension, the Supersports make a good showing for itself on all fronts. The Continental Supersports is powered by a 6.0-liter W12 engine that produces an unbelievable 621 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque which is more than what many popular sports cars offer. Acceleration is blistering, and the car takes corners as though the road was tailor-made as its playground. In fact, reviews have indicated that the Bentley Continental Supersports performed on a slalom course nearly as well as a BMW M3 convertible, which is an impressive feat for any car. Naturally, fuel economy is terrible, but if you are driving a car with an MSRP of $267,000, you probably aren't too concerned with damages at the pump. The flex fuel feature does little to soften the blow, but at least owners can be a bit more eco-friendly with their luxury.

The interior forgoes the traditional leather and wood that consumers have grown to expect in a Bentley, in favor of a more performance-oriented setup. Carbon fiber and alcantara are the kings of the Supersports. The seats are, at least by Bentley standards, insufferable. They are lightweight and offer very little in the way of adjustment, but Bentley offers to custom fit them to the driver, or if that is unacceptable, to replace the racing seats with those from a Continental GT, so if you don't feel comfortable, there certainly are accommodating options. There is an abnormally large amount of cargo room for a two seat car, but that is because the Supersports is based on the Continental, which normally holds 4 seats. Buyers, if so inclined, may select and option to have the rear seats replaced. The tech inside the cabin is fairly standard for Bentley, but the comically bad infotainment system has been replaced with that from the Continental GT, which is a vast improvement.

The 2012 Bentley Continental Supersports is a large, expensive car with tons of power. It is striking on the outside as the steel wheels demand a double look and the grille seems to be smirking in the rearview mirror of others as it blows on by. Competitors, like the McLaren MP4-12C offer much better overall performance for less money, but they do sacrifice luxury, while Aston Martin offers a variety of sports/luxury cars that rival the Continental Supersports. Overall, the Bentley is worthwhile, but there are other options to consider, if you are not simply hung up on the name.
