With the power to accelerate quickly and strongly, this vehicle ensures that it moves as fast as the driver wants it to. It is evident with and withut the electric motor that there is simply more power to this vehicle than even the other BMW models on the market. Fortunately, drivers never notice this in the handling or superior ride that is offered.

Like every other hybrid, the BMW 7 Series Active Hybrid combines the use of a gasoline engine with an electric one for optimal fuel savings. What surprises most drivers is that with this hybrid, the ability to save money increases the faster the car is driven. The gasoline powered engine is a 4.4 liter 440 horsepower V8. The electric motor is located in the trunk and run by a lithium ion battery. Combined the vehicle reaches 455 horsepower. A standard eight speed automatic transmission is mated to achieve the best performance possible. It gets about 17mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway. The real test is surpassed as the hybrid manages to hit sixty mph in less than five seconds, a low number even for BMW. It is also important to note that there are a host of safety features available standard on this vehicle and even more that can be added as an option.
