The 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan gets a big boost in the engine department from its' previous model, the Aveo . At 138 lb-ft of torque, the standard 1.8-liter in-line 4-cylinder engine produces a lot more horsepower than the Aveo did. You can also get the ever-desirable 1.4-liter turbocharged engine, which puts out a class-leading 148 lb-ft of torque. But even with all that horsepower and torque, either engine you go with is designed to give you great fuel economy both in the city and on the highway.

The cabin of the Chevrolet Sonic Sedan has a modern, industrial theme to it that will fit with any driver's personality. All controls are intuitively laid out, easy to figure out and to use. There is no option for a built-in navigation system in the center dash, although storage is plentiful. The exterior styling is sleek and also modern with smooth, clean lines. It has a sporty front-end that goes along with that extra horsepower they've given this overhauled subcompact sedan. It comes in six beautiful colors with three interior color combinations that will make for a unique vehicle for anyone.

Three trims are available for the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan: LS, LT, and LTZ. The LS, the most basic of the three trims, features 15" wheels, a trip odometer, manual adjustable seats, air conditioning, OnStar, tilt/telescope steering wheel, folding rear seat, and the four speaker AM/FM stereo system. A six speaker CD/MP3 player upgrade is available with the LS but is standard with the LT model that also includes upgraded upholstery, heated side mirrors, and full power amenities. You also have the option for the Connectivity Plus Cruise Package which includes Bluetooth and USB connectivity, cruise control, and audio controls mounted on the steering wheel.

With the Chevrolet Sonic Sedan's top of the line LTZ trim, all of the previously mentioned features are included, along with the Wheels and Foglamps package that will upgrade the wheels to 17" alloy rims and will include installed foglamps. A premium, leather wrapped steering wheel adds to the luxury, along with the leatherette, premium vinyl seats that come with installed heat options. To complete the quintessential image of luxury, the LTZ has the option of adding a sunroof.

Overall, the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan is a well designed subcompact vehicle that has plenty of interior storage, spacious seating, and plenty of power. For the incredibly low price of the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan, there are a great number of included amenities and optional features, along with enviable horsepower and torque no matter which engine you go with. This vehicle also did very well in safety tests, being rated as a "Top Safety Pick" by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and stopping in just 123 feet from 60 MPH in Edmunds brake test, which is a decent distance for this class of vehicle.

The Chevrolet Sonic Sedan is a very comfortable car to drive, both in the city and at highway speeds. The turning radius makes it easy to maneuver and the ride is firm but the suspension does help take away some of the harshness of bumpy roads, speed bumps, gravel, etc. Both engines give the car the power it needs to provide the driver with great control over the vehicle, although the 1.4-liter turbo does add pep that you won't find in other vehicles in this class. All in all, the 2012 Chevrolet Sonic Sedan does render engaging handling but not at the expense of comfort and is more composed and bigger than one would expect from a car in its class.
