There are very few cars that have attracted more interest in recent years than the Chevrolet Volt Electric Sedan. Since its first release way back in January 2007 as a concept car, there was a lot of hope that the Volt would evolve to become a feasible alternative to the petrol driven car and would lead the way to seeing a whole new generation of electric power cars hitting the roads.

The 2012 Chevrolet Volt is a midsize four door four seater hatchback which has begun to earn reviews in the motoring press because of its unique hybrid qualities. The reason is that the 2012 Chevrolet Volt Electric Sedandefinitely sizzles. It is sporty, quick, smooth and modern, and has features that truly set it apart in a class of its own. The Chevrolet Volt Electric sedan is a front wheel drive, 4 passenger sedan that is a plug-in hybrid. So, exactly what does this mean? It gives it the ability to travel much farther and faster by using strictly electric power than a normal hybrid would be able to travel.

The electric motor in the Chevrolet Volt Electric Sedanis rated at 149 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. The 1.4 liter four-cylinder internal combustion engine kicks in when the battery pack is 70 percent depleted. At this point the Volt will be traveling on premium fuel. The sporty little Volt can travel up to 100 mph, and the best part is the vehicle can travel anywhere from 25 to 50 miles without using a drop of gasoline - a very impressive vehicle, indeed.

When the battery runs low on juice, then the vehicle's gasoline-powered inline-4 engine takes over and produces electricity for the motor, and in some circumstances powers the wheels, allowing as much as an additional 300 miles to be traveled. Aside from possibly being the most fuel-efficient vehicle that one can purchase, it is the most advanced hybrid on the market.
