Audi Coupe Reviews

German luxury automaker Audi is known for its stylish vehicles, and its coupe models are no exception to that rule. Though the Audi A8 sedan is the company's flagship vehicle, Audi's coupes have received plenty of positive attention as well, especially the A5 and S5 models. There are currently six coupe vehicles in the Audi lineup.

The 2012 Audi A5 Coupe has a starting MSRP of $38,200 and a 2.0-liter L4 engine that creates 211 hp. The A5 gets 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, and stepped in as the Audi A4's replacement in 2007. Since that time, the A5 coupe has been faring well. It has three trims levels available: Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige, and is also available in a convertible variant. Bluetooth, a sunroof, and leather seats are just a few standard features you'll find on the A5, which competes with the Infiniti G37 and the Nissan 370Z.

The Audi R8 Coupe is a supercar made for daily driving. For the 2012 year, the R8 has a starting MSRP of $114,200 and a base 4.2-liter V8 engine, which produces 420 horsepower. The R8 is Audi's flagship coupe (based on the Audi A8) and has Lamborghini Gallardo roots. The R8 is available in a G8 model variant, which provides more power, but has limited production. A Spyder convertible form of the R8 is also available. The base coupe competes with the Maserati GranTurismo MC Coupe.

The 2012 Audi SS Coupe starts at $53,600 and is available in 4.2 Coupe or a 3.0T Convertible variant. The SS competes with the Porsche Caymann and the Chevrolet Corvette for the top sporty spot in the auto market. The SS replaced the Audi S4 line of coupes and convertibles. Its look absolutely screams "cool."

The Audi TT is the current lineup's most inexpensive ride, coming in at a starting price of only $37,800. The TT is the base model for a larger range of sporty vehicles, which is comprised of the Audi TTS and the newly reintroduced (for 2012) Audi TT RS. Its main competitors include the Mercedes-Benz SLK and the BMW Z4 .The TT is offered as a hard-top or a convertible that seats two, and gets a respectable 23 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. The engine was tweaked in the TT for this model year, and the vehicle now produces 211 horsepower with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. Both the coupe and convertible models come with standard features such as automatic climate control, Bluetooth capability, and auto-dimming mirrors.

The Audi TTS and Audi TT RS come in at slightly higher prices than the TT. The TTS has a starting MSRP of $45,900, and the Audi TT RS coupe has a starting MSRP of $56,850. Both of these vehicles provide a higher level of sportiness and luxury due to their increased prices. The TTRS coupe, for example, contains a turbocharged, 360 horsepower 5-cylinder in-line engine. The 2012 TT RS marks the return of the RS name to the United States, after quite a long absence.
