Lamborghini Coupe Reviews

There is a saying going around claiming that "by the time that most people have amassed enough money to buy a Lamborghini Coupe, they will have lost the physical capabilities to get in and out of it." But then Ferruccio Lamborghini, the man who founded this unabashedly opulent car making concern in 1963 had already figured that one out and tailored his production accordingly. Since the day they released their first model, Lamborghini have produced the World's most exotic luxury Coupes, with very few rivals even capable of getting close to them.

History will point out that Lamborghini was founded very much at the right time. That is the mid sixties, when global economies were booming, petrol was 40 cents a gallon, and smart young men had barrow loads of money to burn on sports coupes. And then as now, there was no better coupe to burn money, miles and fuel than the Lamborghini.

After word spread about Lamborghini, the company had no problem selling whatever the made, tailoring their production to the global climate, which took downturns and upturns during the almost five decades that the Bologna, Italy based prestige car maker was in the business of producing exceptional cars for the exceptionally wealthy of the World. During that time, Lamborghini ceased to be privately owned and changed hands a number of times, till finally coming under the Audi wing in the mid Noughties.

Currently the entire product range at Lamborghini numbers just two, the Gallardo and the Aventador, with the latter being the most powerful of the two.

To say that the 2011 Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera is an exercise in ostentatiousnous would be an understatement. With the look of a fighter aircraft on wheels, the Gallardo has been around for a few years now, carrying the Lamborghini legend forward into the 21st century. When it comes to speed, the Gallardo achieves previously unknown dimensions thanks to Lamborghini's efforts to reduce the Gallardo's body weight dramatically. The dramatic weight loss has to be credited to Lamborghini's effective use of aluminum, polycarbonate and carbon fiber which allows the car to weigh in at just 3,350 pounds, around the weight of an average family saloon.

Add to that the fact that the Lamborghini Gallardo now draws its power from a 5.2-liter V10 engine producing the power of no less than 562 horses paired up with a six speed, single clutch action, semi automated manual transmission, means that this compact, lean, mean Lamborghini coupe is a very fast car indeed.

Not so lean but certainly as mean is the recently launched Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4, which came in to replace the Murcielago as Lamborghini's flagship. The Aventador has been designed and constructed from scratch using all of the light weight materials as the Gallardo although it is a few inches longer, wider and taller than its sister car, the all-wheel drive Aventador LP700-4 boasts a five liter V12 petrol engine generating 691 horsepower paired with a 7-speed automated manual transmission.

There is a given and indisputable fact that has run throughout the history of Lamborghini. And that is that there cars look good. Exotic design has always been their benchmark and with the ability to use easily craft-able yet outstandingly resilient materials, the body of both the company's coupes is exotic in the extreme. The now trademark upward opening doors are still there to be hallowed as well as a number of beautifully shaped niches that make these cars outstanding to look at.

Anyone spending the amount that a Lamborghini will cost will know that not a single penny will not be invested to make the car as comfortable, steady and safe a ride as can be found on the road.

And finding one, at least to buy, might prove more difficult than you would imagine with the Aventador, that costs close to four hundred thousand dollars, has already been forwarded ordered deep into 2013.
