ProsThis Lexus hybrid is green inside and out, with materials that might offend devoted Lexus owners with its almost cheap feel, but that can be easily averted with a leather upgrade to semi-aniline.

ProsThe controls and gauges within the doors of this hybrid are brightly lit and easily accessed, making it a highly driver friendly vehicle.

ProsThe HS gives almost as much aerodynamic consideration as its Prius relative; with a mere .02 drag co-efficient difference between the two.

ProsIts almost bland appearance compared with previous Lexus models combined with the cabin's humming and smallish interior space detract somewhat from the Lexus HS Hybrid Sedan's brilliance in using plant-derived materials in over 30 percent of the interior and cargo areas.

ConsAlthough its exterior is more standard looking than the sophisticated, flowing lines that are usually associated with luxury vehicles, as from a distance it could even be confused with a Toyota sedan.

ConsAlso a change from the previous Lexus models, the HS Hybrid Sedan doesn't carry a shifter in the center console, it's normal positioning between the driver's and passenger's seats; instead, much like the Prius, the center of the dashboard is the home of the hybrid's gear shifter, and is reminiscent of a game console joystick.

ConsHowever, with its widely divergent styling being more evocative of a standard Toyota Prius rather than an opulent, extravagant luxury vehicle, some Lexus owners may be hesitant to make the switch. `
