Originally manufactured for the Japanese market as the Nissan Tiida, the Nissan Versa Sedan came to North America in 2006. The first release of the vehicle in North America was the hatchback version in July of 2006, but the family sedan followed closely at the end of the year. Both vehicles were released as a 2007 model. The Versa was originally debuted at the North American International Auto Show in January of 2006, though the actual Tiida had been on the market since 2004. The actual sedan is only known as the Versa in North America as it has several other names depending on which section of the world is offering the vehicle.

The Nissan Versa Sedan is actually one of the lowest price cars on the market today with the base trim being offered at less than $11,000. In the price range, it offers the most head and leg room of any vehicle and gives buyers a solid and comfortable means of transportation. If sticking with the basic package, the Versa is the lowest price vehicle in its class and offers a tremendous value to buyers. Once options are added, the value will decrease and it will become less competitive in the class.

The engine on the Nissan Versa Sedan is less powerful than its hatchback relative, but when it comes to acceleration the difference will not be noticeable. That is because the sedan actually weighs less than the hatchback version and means that acceleration will be about the same between the two vehicles. The sedan has a huge backseat and the car itself was completely redesigned for 2012. While the hatchback remained as is, the Versa sedan was given some major improvements to add to the roominess and fuel economy of the vehicle.

The Nissan Versa Sedan is more efficient, refined and roomy than in previous years even though the actual exterior size was never altered. It was given a 1.6 Liter 109 hp 4 cylinder engine that is slightly less powerful than the 1.8 liter it previously had. However, when the engine is paired with the continuously variable transmission it gives a fuel economy as high as 33 mpg. The backseat actually could rival that of many larger cars on the market and provides ample room for nearly anyone to enjoy the ride. It makes an ideal family car given the comfort and space offered while still being an affordable option.

What buyers will find is that the Nissan Versa Sedan provides a safe, stable, comfortable and low-cost ride. It may not win any awards for performance, but it performs adequately for a daily travel vehicle. The materials on the interior are of decent quality and while nothing extraordinarily stylish exists in the cabin, it is a nice and inviting place to ride. The fuel economy makes it a good value, but if too many options are added then the price becomes too high to compete with more well known subcompact vehicles.
