The 206 was one of Peugeot's best selling compact cars, produced for twelve years from 1998 through to 2010. The Peugeot 2006 was accredited by the French auto giant to be their best-selling car in their long and distinguished history, with six and half million models, in various formats sold throughout the World.

Peugeot decided that the time to wind up production of the 206 was while it was still at its peak, and production of the much loved compact has been discontinued in Europe to be replaced by 308 models. However an updated version, the Peugeot 206+ is still being produced for certain markets, particularly Central and South America and the Middle East.

The Peugeot 206+ five door hatchback , to all intents and purposes, is based on the Series Two 206 with a revamped front, taken mostly from the 307 with a revamped hood, redesigned grille for the radiator and Peugeot's now trademark HID oversized headlights being the only distinguishing features to separate the 206+ from its illustrious predecessor.

The Peugeot 206 has been produced with a large number of engines over the years. However with the 206+ Peugeot only now offer the engine with either a 1.4 liter or 1.6 liter petrol engine with five speed manual gearbox as standard with a five speed automatic transmission as an optional extra.

In keeping with their long running design standards, Peugeot have fitted the 206+ Hatchback with Macpherson strut front and torsion beam suspension for the rear backed up by a front and rear stabilizer bar, that have been proven to provide effective steering as well as balance.

The Peugeot 206+ certainly befits its description as a compact car as space is limited both as far as rear seat passengers as well as baggage space is concerned. At 151 inches long by 65 inches wide by just 56 inches tall. Three back seat passengers will find the journey cramped especially if they are above normal height and with a maximum storage capacity of just sixteen cubes with the back seats up, carrying large items, has been and always will be a challenge.
