Used 2012 Peugeot Coupe 407 Review & Ratings

The 407 was one in a line of family saloons, sport wagons and even coupes produced by Peugeot; that is until it began to be phased out in 2010, after being in production for six years. When the Peugeot was in full production, it enjoyed relative popularity in Europe and throughout many other parts of the world. Although the Peugeot 508 series came in to take the 407's place in Peugeot's principal markets in Europe, the 407 is still produced and assembled in several major Peugeot markets, primarily because it does offer some unique features.

The Series Two Peugeot 407 was introduced in 2008, in its already winning formula of saloon and sport wagon although the coupe version was discontinued. With the new design characterized by its sharply angled screen pillars and larger than life oversized front grille and eye-catching headlamps, the Peugeot 407 Series Two Sedan and Sports Wagon were also presented with some minor cosmetic changes to its overall body trim and rear end.

As the production of the Series Two 407 began to slow down in 2010, Peugeot cut the choice of engines down to only one. However, the engine that they chose to spotlight was probably the best and certainly the most preferred choice with consumers. This is their four-cylinder 2.0-liter turbo- diesel that is paired up with a six-speed automatic transmission.

Peugeot has long held a positive reputation for building cars that give a comfortable ride and the 407 is certainly no exception. Of course, most of the credit goes directly to the combination of front double wishbone and five point multilink in the rear that allows the vehicle to glide over bumps and holes without delivering them to passengers.

The 2012 Peugeot 407 Sedan and Sport Wagon provide more than adequate seating accommodation for five adults, with the sedan 184 inches long and the sport wagon 3.5 inches longer. Both versions are 71.3 inches wide and 57.5 inches high, which is more than enough head and shoulder room for nearly anyone to appreciate. The 407 Sports Wagon offers a lot as far as storage is concerned; when the back seats are in place the sport wagon will pack around 45.5 cubic feet. However, with the back seats down, the storage space shoots up to around 120 cubic feet. The 407 Sedan storage capacities, when compared to the Sport Wagon, are disappointing with just 30 cubic feet of space available in its narrow trunk.
