The Megane Coupe is the start of Renault saying good-bye to the bustle-back three-door models and hello to a more attractive look, possibly borrowing some attributes from the Alfa Romeo. It's much more aggressive and sporty than its five-door counterpart, and offers a significantly better drive all around too. A handsome profile, a well-shaped bonnet and a strong back, this car demands to be noticed as it glides across the road. It's not just the outside that looks appealing. The surfaces of the interior have been fit and finished with care, a massive improvement to the previous Megane models. The seats are also well-bolstered, making them exceedingly comfortable and a pleasure to sit in.

The 2012 Renault Megane Coupe is available in Expression, Dynamique TomTom, GT and Renaultsport 265 trims. There are three fantastic engines used, all of which return outstanding and almost unbelievable fuel-economy. the first is a dCi 110 with Stop and Start. This efficient and economical engine is a very popular pick. Next is a TCE 115 with Stop and Start direct injection turbo petrol engine that offers combined fuel consumption of 53.3 mpg. To help reach this impressive fuel economy, regenerative braking harnesses energy generated from braking to keep its battery charged longer. Lastly is a dCi 130 with Stop ad Start that returns an average of 70.6 mpg, which should satisfy even the most frugal shopper. This is the most powerful 1.6-liter diesel engine in the UK. The ride is smooth and handling is sharp; it is essentially everything you could want in a vehicle.

Renault has not skimped on safety features for this 2012 model either. Antilock brakes are paired up with emergency braking assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. The Megane Coupe also features airbags everywhere you need them, cruise control with speed limiter, emergency spare wheel, stability and under steer control, heated rear window, rear parking sensors, tire inflation kit, deadlocking and Renault Keycard.

In almost all aspects, the 2012 models are a major improvement over the previous five-door model. It takes turns aggressively, offers better handling and is a pleasure to drive. It is also far more appealing to the eye. Unfortunately, the major difference between the five-door model and the Coupe is the space, where the latter really suffers in practicality. That being said, most drivers agree that what space it does offer is more than adequate for their needs.
