Since the Megane is a French manufactured vehicle there are some quirks when it comes to a few of the instruments and their locations. Instead of the hoods lever being located on the driver's side you will find this lever on the passenger's side near their feet. The audio controls located on the steering wheel are in a good position but have a significant learning curve due to the functions of the buttons. Reading the manual will certainly help clear up any issues the consumer may have with learning how the controls function and where they are located. Another quirk is the main button for the cruise control is located near the hand brake lever which makes it a little difficult to find at first and just seems like an odd place to have the button.

Although the Megane Hatchback seems to have a lot of little quirks there are some excellent benefits to the vehicle as well. These benefits include a nice somewhat peppy 2.0L diesel engine that has lower torque and is great for everyday driving. If you are an aggressive driver who expects their vehicle to accelerate as soon as they touch the gas pedal you may be disappointed. Aggressive drivers will be disappointed with the acceleration of the Megane because having a lower torque means the vehicle will accelerate slower than other vehicles.

The Renault Megan handles quite nicely in the city because of the suspension system and the driver and passengers barely feel any bumps and imperfections in the road. Having a nice suspension system results in having a lot of play in the chassis of the vehicle and can be difficult to handle when changing lanes at high speeds and driving on winding country roads. The steering is quite nice and smooth while driving in the city at low speeds and is excellent for parallel parking because it does not take much effort to get the vehicle moving in the direction you want it to. Another benefit of this vehicle is its economical diesel engine. Even though the Megane is not the most economical choice out there you can still expect to get 70.6 miles per gallon of diesel.
