The 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport Sedan certainly does pack some power in its tame-looking shell. Think a 2.5-Liter, H4, i-Active 16-Valve, SOHC, SEFI Engine, horsepower and torque of 170 at 4400 rpm and good acceleration. Plus, there's no lacking in power at any rpm range. The standard 5-speed manual transmission works well, while the 4-cylinder is adequate. We prefer the 5-speed transmission for tense situations like quick acceleration while passing trucks or slower traffic on a two-lane highway. Many vehicles have 5-speed automatics currently, but the Subaru engine has enough flexibility in its power structure to work well with a 4-speed.
