Ford trucks have been around for a long time. Specifically, they've been around since Henry Ford built his third automobile, which was a truck. Ford trucks have been around for a long time. Specifically, they've been around since Henry Ford built his third automobile, which was a truck. By 1918, Ford had fashioned what we think of as a pickup truck today with the Model T, built on the Model T One-Ton Chassis, which was built specifically with trucks in mind. By the time 1925 rolled around, the American automaker had its first truck on production lines. It sold for only $281 and features heavy duty rear springs, an adjustable tailgate, and a cargo box. The real breakthrough, however, was in 1948, the year Ford first introduced the F-Series. This Series was Ford's first new line following World War II, and ranged from F-1 models (weighing half a ton) to F-8 models (weighing three tons). Today, Ford still sells its famed F-Series, and although its seen some major changes, the lineup still consists of quality, durable vehicles that are ready to take on any situation in which drivers take them. For decades, this line of trucks has been the best-selling in America. It's one of several vehicles (also including such models as the Ford Fusion, and Ford Mustang) that kept the brand afloat during the financial crisis of the late 2000s and continues to help the brand grow today.

For 2012, Ford offers a broad range of truck vehicles from the F-150, Ford Super Duty, and Ford Ranger (2011 model) truck lines in various styles and trims. We'll focus on the standard pickup trucks, but there are commercial truck-like vehicles available. (Namely, the Ford E-Series Van and Wagon Van, the Ford Transit Connect van, and several SUV truck-like vehicles). As far as pickup trucks go, Ford has the market covered, with just about any selection drivers could possibly think up. The 2012 Ford model lineup features a variety of different pickups.

The smallest of the bunch is the 2012 Ford F-150 Regular Cab, which achieves 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway and has a starting MSRP of $22,990, followed by (in no particular order) the 2012 Ford F-150 Raptor Regular Cab and 2012 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor SuperCab , which has a starting MRSP of $42,570 and fuel economy ratings of 11 mpg in the city and 14 mpg on the highway. The Ford F-150 Super Cab, which achieves 17 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway and has a starting MSRP of $26,815, and the 2012 Ford F-150 XLT Crew Cab & Extended Cab. The Ford F-150 SuperCrew, which includes the same fuel economy ratings as the Super Cab and has a starting price of $30,475, completes the F-150 lineup.

The next largest model is the F-250, starting with the2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty Regular Cab, with a starting MSRP of $29,065,followed by (in no particular order) the 2012 Ford F-250 powerful Super Duty Lariat Crew Cab, the 2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty XLT Extended Cab, the Ford F-250 Super Duty, variation SuperCab, with a starting MSRP of $31,190, the 2012 Ford F-250 Super Duty XL Regular Cab, and the Ford F-250 strong Super Duty, variation Crew Cab, with an MSRP starting at $32,550.

Third in line in terms of size is the F-350 line. It includes the Ford F-350 Super Duty, variation Crew Cab, starting at $33,470, the Ford F-350 Super Duty, variation Regular Cab, starting at $29,785, and the Ford F-350 Super Duty, variation SuperCab, with a starting MSRP of $32,240. Finally, the king of the Ford line is the F-450 line, including the Ford F-450 Super Duty, which has a starting MSRP of $49,045 and the Ford F-450 Super Duty King Ranch.
