The Jetta is a small to medium sized family sedan that has been produced by Volkswagen since the late nineteen seventies. Now in its sixth series the Volkswagen Jetta has been produced under many names and shapes, with the Series One being basically a saloon version of the company's super popular Golf hatchback as well as a five-door station wagon. In almost quarter century that it has been in production, more than ten million Jettas have been sold throughout the World with around a third of that figure in the US alone. As was their tradition in the seventies, the Jetta earned its title from the 'jet stream' of the Atlantic region.

Volkswagen's design and concept team developed the Jetta to be their starting range family saloon and have succeeded in carving a niche in the North American market with a vehicle that is solid, reliable, looks good and handles well, providing a comfortable and economical ride for five passengers.

The Sixth Series Volkswagen Jetta Sedan was released for the North American market in June 2010. Larger than any previous versions, the 2012 Jetta is produced and assembled in Volkswagen's Mexico plant.

The Volkswagen Jetta sedan comes powered with any one of four different engines, with the Base and S versions being fitted with a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine producing 115 horsepower and 125 pounds per feet of torque, paired with a five speed manual transmission as standard, with the option of installing a six-speed automatic in its place.

The SE and SEL versions of the Jetta are powered by Volkswagen's 2.5 liter 5 cylinder engine producing 170 horsepower and 177 pound per feet of torque, again paired with a five speed manual transmission as standard, with again the option of installing a six-speed automatic.

Despite the reduced roof line in the Series Six Jetta Sedan, there are still loads of headroom available for both the driver and their front seat passenger, while the extended wheelbase provides ample leg room for the three maximum back seat passengers with headroom also being more than generous.

With a folding 60/40 split rear bench seat as standard, the Jetta offer a load of storage space and cargo carrying capacity with a 15.5 cubic space trunk.
