More Used Volvo Sedan Reviews / All Volvo Cars

Volvo gave their S60 sedan a complete interior design overhaul last year and it now boasts what has become an almost standard trademark appearance from the Swedish car manufacturing master dominated by their distinctive floating centre stack instrument panel on a brushed aluminum background.

The 2012 Volvo S60 is comes in the T5, T6 and T6 R-Design trims.

The T5 is the base version, although it comes with a really mouth watering finish starting from heated exterior mirrors, eight way memory functionable power operated driver seat with T-Tec cloth upholstery, leather covered tilting and steering wheel, cruise control, automatic climate control, CD player with 8 speaker sound system and culminating in seventeen inch wheels alloy wheels with 205/50R17 93V all weather tires.

The Volvo 60 with T6 trim comes with all of the above plus upholstery in leather and auto-dimming rearview mirror as well as eighteen inch alloy wheels with 235/40R18 all season tires.

Volvo have obviously given a lot of thought on how to present the many options that they present with the Volvo S60 and indeed all of the cars in their range, preferring to split them into packages. For the S60 there are three packages available- the Climate, Premier Plus or Platinum. Each of these packages presents the buyer with a wide range of upgrades, with each pushing the S60 up another level in terms of luxury and comfort.

The S60 Sedan represents yet another example of Volvo's almost century long commitment to vehicle and passenger protection, coming loaded with a long list of safety features. These take in front and rear parking sensors, anti-lock disc brakes, airbags for the front seat as well as side curtain airbags, front head restraints and stability and traction control and side blind spot warning system. A new Volvo safety innovation is their City Safety feature that will take the initiative and cause the vehicle to brake and possibly prevent a collision at speeds of less than twenty miles an hour. Another variation on the same theme, which does not yet come as standard, is the "Pedestrian Detection", feature that will automatically sense a pedestrian's presence and intervene to apply the brakes at speeds of up to 31 miles per hour.

Fuel consumption for the Volvo S60 sedan fitted with a 2.5 liter inline 5 cylinder turbo-charged version , according to the US EPA averages at 23 miles per gallon , with 20 miles per gallon in the city and 30 miles per gallon on the open road , while the 3.0 liter turbocharged six cylinder burns up an average of 21 miles per gallon with 18 miles per gallon in the city and 26 miles per gallon on the highway being reported in most reviews.

The 2012 Volvo S60 has a fight on its hands to earn every customer in the medium sized luxury saloon category, coming up against such strong opposition as the BMW 3 Series, Infiniti G Sedan, Cadillac CTS, Acura TL, Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
