REX Sign Tommy SommerELKVILLE, IL - The Terre Haute REX have signed Tommy Sommer, a 6'4", 220-pound, left-handed pitcher from Carmel, IN a sophomore at Indiana University to a contract for the 2019 season. 
Sommer appeared in 13 games, including three starts for Indiana University this past season, hurled a total of 29.1 innings striking out 27 batters and posting a 3.07 ERA. 
A 2017 Carmel High School graduate, Sommer was a one-time all-state selection and three-time all-conference selection. He was rated the No. 2 LHP and the No. 7 overall player out of the State of Indiana by Prep Baseball Report.

In addition, he was ranked the No. 35 LHP nationally and the No. 233 player overall by PBR. In 2017 he was also a Perfect Game Honorable Mention All-American.
