The United Shops of Scratch Major Announcement
Hello everyone,
I am here to announce my pending resignation as co-founder and co-leader of the United Shops of Scratch , however I would like to detail my plan on how this would carry out and I would like to thank you all for what you have done to support this system.
A short history of USS
On October 27, 2016, following the closure of TSF and during the " post-TSF recession “, me and monkeytrooper created the original post of this collaborative effort, simply called the United Shops of Scratch. Immediately in mind I had come up with the idea that the USS would work in similarity to how the US works; a legislative branch, an executive branch, and a judicial branch.
It would be complex but easy to understand, and it could also become large and important in the Scratch community.
Throughout late 2016 and the first half of 2017, we saw tremendous growth. We reached the peak - 50 shops and about three organizations. At that point, applications and such slowed down and inactivity began declining. Eventually all of the inactive members of the USS had been picked out and we fell back to under 20.
Early 2018 we had attempted to re-boot the USS and re-structure it, including a ”Special Interest Group" being created by me and ran by some fellow Scratchers, but that quickly fell into inactivity as well.
The current situation
I take responsibility for these failed attempts of USS revival. The infrastructure of this federation is built on me and MT being active. While MT maintained a steady pace of activity, I had not.
For 2016-2017 I had spent more time present than absent, and during just this year, it was the opposite.
I think it is best for me to step down and shift leadership to MT or any other active member of the USS and allow them to shape the future of it. I would like to reserve the final decision of who is my successor, but you all will play a major role in deciding it. (I want to make sure whoever leads USS on is the right choice.)
Before we get to the second major part of this post I would like to give a nice statement.
Resignation letter
I would like to thank every single member of the USS, active, inactive, current, and former for being part of our community. While the ways of the USS may have not been the simplest, I sure hope it is at least fun to participate in.
Special thanks to those who have stayed on the executive team, including but not limited to jromagnoli, makethebrainhappy, and monkeytrooper. Without you all, we might not have a structure in the first place.
It is important to note that this is not an official resignation letter and I am not leaving the USS at this precise moment, however this is a premature “good-bye” to my leadership role.
The procedures for transitioning my position is laid out below.
Options
We may either have monkeytrooper assume leadership through a pretty common-sense hierarchy system , appoint a leader , close the USS , or merge the USS into another federation .
The first stage of deciding which of these will take place is a standard vote.
This vote will last from tomorrow, October 6, 2018, to October 13, 2018. All I ask for is to choose one of the options above and provide some reasoning. It could be short or vague, but a deep and concise answer would be preferred.
Following that vote would be the actual transition itself if possible. If the appoint a leader or merge the USS options are chosen, we will do a second vote on who will lead/who will absorb our program.

Reminders/bumps will be sent ideally by 3pm EDT daily to ensure a large vote.
