[SOLUTION] Nicknames/display names
As you know, the original nickname/display name suggestion is rejected:
But I’ll make some changes.
Instead of showing only the nickname/display name, it’ll be like this in comments, made-by-username in projects I can’t inspect so I’ll be text-arting this lol
————
| p f p | (username) - (nickname/display)
————
On a profile:
———— (nickname/display)
| p f p | (@username)
————
comment (mockup by @starlightsparker, thank you!)

It’ll stay with only the username in studios, project credits, notifications, and followers/following.
It’ll follow the same filter as the username filter, and there’ll be a 7-days (or maybe 3-4, im still deciding) cooldown between each display change.
display names should be able to handle special text, like emojis or other symbols
and it'll have a 20 letters limit, like the username aight basically changable usernames /j
8.1 Changing usernames or changing display names
If a user could change their username (or even set a certain “nickname” or “display name”), this could be very confusing for the Scratch community, especially for those following that user. In addition, this would make moderation of the website more difficult because it would be harder for the Scratch Team to keep an eye on what a user may be doing. The Scratch Team has allowed username changes only on very rare occasions, such as if the username contains personal information or causes gender dysphoria. Generally, the Scratch Team does not change usernames on request (including for reasons such as “I do not like my current username anymore”).
However, because of the way that usernames are stored on the server, changing the cases of letters in your username (for example, changing @Za-Chary to @ZA-CHARY) is NOT rejected; you can discuss it on this topic.

This is rejected. Also, look up nickname in the dictionary.

I couldn't get the profile name right, so I made a profile comment one.
So you're not planning it for profile comments? Aw, I wasted a lot of oxygen on this but

(Yes! A solution to a rejected suggestion i really wanted!)
Obviously support. Nicknames should follow the same filter as regular usernames. Maybe cap at 30 characters instead of 20? Idk, still support

Did you not see the underlined partThe solution says add the actual
@name to prevent community confusion
(in notifications it will just show @name)
(shows in comments and posts too)

I couldn't get the profile name right, so I made a profile comment one.Actually, it applies for every comment field
So you're not planning it for profile comments? Aw, I wasted a lot of oxygen on this but
(Yes! A solution to a rejected suggestion i really wanted!)Yeah, 30 is a nice maximum. We don’t want the username to override literally everything

The others uses the nickname too much, and the actual username only appeared in profiles. This one only applies to 2 places along with the username

Adding on to this, if one's post is quoted it shows up as their display name (or username, what do you guys think?)

Will have both the display and username.
A user should have to wait 7 days between changingI don’t think there should be a cooldown, as this is basically decorative and doesn’t confuse people much, there’s no point in stopping them from changing their display 18 times a day

( #19 )[ It'd still required to be stored on the servers and shown - Giving it a cooldown would probably be a better idea. ]
