Upcoming Changes to Project Thumbnails
Hey, Scratchers!
We’re writing to share an exciting update with you about Scratch project thumbnails that’s coming soon. We’re changing the way Scratch thumbnails are saved to give you more control over how your projects look.
Right now, Scratch project thumbnails are created by capturing the image on your Scratch stage when you save your project. Sometimes, this function can lead to unintentional thumbnail changes, and it can take some work to get your sprites lined up just right.
When we launch this update, you’ll see a new button on the Scratch project page: Set Thumbnail. This button will capture an image of your project when you press it, and set that image as your project thumbnail.

You can use this button while your project is playing or stopped to make sure you capture the perfect moment for your thumbnail.
This feature will be released soon. We hope you enjoy it! Have fun imagining, creating, and sharing in Scratch.
