Gene Carney and Justin Murphy, both of whom contribute to Seamheads.com, have each been awarded a Yoseloff-SABR Baseball Research Grant, which will allow them to further their baseball research on their respective subjects.

Carney will use his grant to study documents pertaining to the Black Sox scandal that was recently purchased by the Chicago History Museum. Murphy will use his grant to research the life of Jocko Flynn, who pitched for the 1886 Chicago White Stockings (Cubs).

For more information on Carney’s research, read his Notes From the Shadows of Cooperstown #452.   Murphy will be writing about his research at a future date.
