Welcome to the Seamheads National Podcasting Networkhome page.  Seamheads.com’s first podcast debuted on May 10, 2010 when “What’s On Second: The Seamheads.com Radio Hour” aired on Blog Talk Radio.  Then we launched a second podcast through our partnership with Strat-O-Matic Baseball called “Tumbling Dice: The Seamheads.com Strat-O-Matic Show,” which debuted on September 29, 2010.  Since May 10, we’ve aired 43 shows and featured guests such as Roy Firestone, Rob Neyer, Dick Drago, Murray Chass, Jane Leavy, Jonah Keri, Marty Appel, Dayn Perry, Dirk Hayhurst, Jeff Montgomery, Don Slaught, Jim Callis, Brent Strom, Peter Golenbock, Paul White and many others.

Early in 2011 Seamheads.com decided to expand its roster of podcasts by creating the Seamheads National Podcasting Network, featuring shows out of Atlanta, Baltimore/D.C., Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle and St. Louis.  Other teams and cities will be covered in a couple of general baseball shows, and one of our podcasts, “The Sully Baseball Show,” will be hosted by an Emmy-nominated television producer and will boast guests who are baseball fanatics from the entertainment industry.

Recently, Big League Chewenthusiastically agreed to sponsor the entire SNPN.  We’re looking forward to bringing our audience quality shows during the 2011 season and beyond.

Here’s a list of shows, their debut dates (if applicable), on-air talent and future confirmed guests (all times EST):

Host: Mike Silva—Since March of 2007 Silva has provided New York baseball fans with his own brand of radio. This 24/7/365 digest of baseball information includes former athletes, journalists, authors, independent media, and even the fans. No topic is too big or small for Mike and his collection of contributors to tackle. Each week they delve deeper than the box score to deliver some of the most thought provoking opinion and analysis on the web. Whether it’s the latest in the minor leagues, a former star in independent baseball, or what’s going on at Citi Field or Yankee Stadium, NYBD has something to say. It’s one of the only shows that combine news, rumors, gossip, opinion, and analysis all in one. Host: Nick Waddell—A baseball fan since age three, Nick avidly follows his Detroit Tigers no matter where he is. Nick’s hoping to work his way into baseball after law school. He wrote a biography on Al Kaline for the SABR book Sock It To ‘Em Tigers and has been a member of SABR since 2006.

Host: Graham Womack—Graham is the founder and editor of Baseball: Past and Present and has been contributing to Seamheads since June 2010. He’s been reading about baseball since childhood, has a journalism degree from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, and hopes to one day write for Sports Illustrated . Graham lives in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Host: Bill Ivie—Bill is the founder and Executive Editor of i70baseball.com and Assignment Editor at BaseballDigest.com.  He is a baseball historian and St. Louis Cardinals fan who spends countless hours digging for any information about the history of the game. At BaseballDigest.com he’s responsible for all historical content, all Cardinals content, acquiring new talent, managing current talent, setting and enforcing deadlines, and developing current content. Bill also hosts a weekly hour-long podcast at Blog Talk Radio every Monday night at 10:00 PM CST.

Co-host: Daniel Shoptaw—Shoptaw is a long-time Cardinal fan who has spent just over a decade online with the handle Cardinal70, starting as a poster and moving up to administration at CardsClubhouse.com before branching out into his own blog. His blog, “C70 At The Bat,” has been around for four years and has been the jumping off point for his organization of other like-minded writers into the United Cardinal Bloggers group (out of which came the UCB Radio Hour, a podcast that has had such luminaries as Ozzie Smith and Lou Brock and current Cardinals such as Kyle McClellan as guests) and then, last year, the Baseball Bloggers Alliance.

Host: Steve Lenox—Steve Lenox is a sports broadcaster, who currently serves as an update anchor with 1050 ESPN Radio in New York city. Steve also works with lexy.com, serving as a lexycaster and covering the New York Jets, New York Yankees, UConn Huskies basketball, and Major League Baseball.  In the past, Steve has worked on a national stage with XM Satellite Radio’s major league baseball channel and XM Sports Nation, serving as a reporter, play-by-play announcer, talk-show host and update anchor. He served as play-by-play announcer with XM for the inaugural baseball classic in Tokyo, Japan and Phoenix, Arizona in 2006.  Steve has worked for four minor league baseball clubs and has broadcast over 1,000 professional baseball games. He has also served as a fill-in basketball play-by-play announcer and public address announcer for several Division I Colleges and Universities.

Co-host: Jess Coleman—Jess’ coverage of the New York Yankees is currently published on BleacherReport.com, Seamheads.com, Examiner.com, BronxBaseballDaily.com, and Sports-Central.org. His former column at ClassActSports.com, his writing at BleacherReport.com, and his former blog on MLBlogs.com all earned top marks for readership. Jess also spent time as a reporter for The Tribeca Trib , and his work has been featured on CBSSports.com.

Co-host: Mike Lynch—Lynch has been writing on the Internet since 1999, has been published by The Oregonian newspaper, and has been a member of SABR since 2004. His first book, Harry Frazee, Ban Johnson and the Feud That Nearly Destroyed the American League , was published by McFarland Publishing in 2008 and was named a finalist for the 2009 Larry Ritter Award in addition to being nominated for the Seymour Medal. His second book, It Ain’t So: A Might-Have-Been History of the White Sox in 1919 and Beyond , was released by McFarland in December 2009.  He currently serves as President of Seamheads.com and Executive Producer of the Seamheads National Podcasting Network.

Host: Paul “Sully” Sullivan—Paul Francis Sullivan, a Red Sox fan, writes the baseball blog “Sully Baseball.”  He is an Emmy-nominated television producer whose credits include “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and “The Bonnie Hunt Show.” He has appeared on HBO Sports’ “The Curse of the Bambino” as well as ESPN2 and the award winning baseball documentary “Spaceman – A Baseball Odyssey.” As a performer he has appeared on “Monk” and “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”  As a filmmaker he directed and co-wrote the indie film “I’ll Believe You” and has won awards for his many short films including “Sergi” which was featured on PBS’ “Independent Lens.”

Host: Dave Rattigan—In recent years, comedian Dave Rattigan has added “actor” to his resume with a popular Olympia Sports commercial with fellow comedian Jimmy Dunn and Red Sox field reporter Heidi Watney that played during Red Sox games on the New England Sports Network.  He also has an extensive resume in journalism and sports journalism, winning five New England Press Association Awards in sports-related categories (among 14 NEPA Awards). A frequent contributor to The Boston Globe and infrequent contributor to People Magazine , his work has appeared in national publications including The Robb Report , Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News . He has written humor pieces for The Boston Globe , Christian Science Monitor and the regional Northshore Magazine . He covered the New England Patriots in the 1986 Super Bowl, where he strolled out of the New Orleans Superdome with Bears’ great William “The Refrigerator” Perry.

In civilian life, he was a player and coach with The North Shore Reds, which won three championships in an over-30 division of the Boston Men’s Baseball League. He hit a grand slam when he was 13 years old, in an otherwise unmemorable career. He once met Ted Williams, and the two discussed hitting — with Williams standing and demonstrating a batting stance — in the middle of a crowded restaurant. He got Williams’ autograph and a personal note, which he subsequently lost.

As a comedian, his Dave Rattigan: Thinks He’s Funny CD has been played on Sirius- XM Satellite Radio, and he runs a New England-based production and booking company called Scamps Comedy Productions. He has auditioned for/been submitted for/submitted jokes to Fox TV, The Sundance Film Festival, some literary magazines, Saturday Night Live and Late Night with Conan O’Brien — none of which have yielded a positive result, except for the chance to hang around the Late Night lobby, where he saw Calista Flockhart. Co-host: Chris Mascaro—Chris has been a Red Sox fan since he moved to Boston 1981. After living the majority of his life starved for live baseball in cities like Fort Lauderdale, Orlando and Memphis, once he got a taste of Beantown and Fenway Park, he was hooked. Among Chris’ extensive sports memorabilia collection some of his favorite pieces are his Curt Schilling limited addition steiner with a game used 2004 baseball, his framed cover of the Thursday, October 21, 2004 edition of the New York Daily News with the headline “The Choke’s On Us” with a picture of A-Rod holding his hand over his mouth and the picture taken of him holding the 2004 World Series trophy. Though he now lives in Atlanta he and his 10-year-old son watch every game through the power of MLB Extra Innings.

Co-host: Bob Lazzari—Bob is an award-winning sports columnist for Connecticut’s Valley Times where his “Sports Roundup” column is featured weekly. He is a member of the Connecticut Sports Writers’ Alliance and host of “ Monday Night Sports Talk ,” a cable television show on CTV/Channel 14 in Connecticut.  A Fordham grad, Bob is a regular contributor to ESPN Radio’s “Inside Yankee Baseball”; he can also be heard weekly every Tuesday morning on WXLM/980 AM in New London, CT. He has a popular blog where many of his past columns have been archived.

Host: Steve Keane—Keane has been doing THIS CALL TO THE BULLPEN for two years, bringing on guests from all areas of baseball. From players, former players, beat writers, authors and bloggers, Steve tries to get as many interesting and newsworthy people on to talk baseball, mostly from a New York perspective. Along with the podcast he’s been writing about the Mets for ten years at The Eddie Kranepool Society.

Co-host: Jeffrey Brown—Brown is the quintessential Red Sox fan of his generation and the founder of Sox1Fan.com . He became a Red Sox fan in 1967, having attended his first game at Fenway Park in May, 1967, just weeks before his sixth birthday. Since then he’s seen countless games at Fenway Park, including Game 7 of the 1986 ALCS and all three World Series games that same year. Jeffrey regularly camped out at Fenway from 1988-2003 for regular season, playoff, World Series, All-Star Game and All-Star / HR Derby tickets before the current Red Sox ownership decided it was more interested in accommodating the interests of the ticket agencies and scalpers by limiting ticket sales to computer and telephone sales only… to the agency phone banks and speed dialers.

Co-host: Joe Lano—Joe is 46 and 2011 will mark his 30th year playing fantasy baseball. He is known around fantasy baseball leagues and Blog Talk chat rooms as JerseyHitman. He was a full time writer for FantasyPros911 when they first started out and still writes for them every now and then. He also wrote for BaseballInsiders.com and FantasyBaseballMafia .com.

Host: Jeff Engels—Jeff is the founder of Jeff’s Mariners , a blog dedicated to the Seattle Mariners.  He’s a Seattle resident and has been following the Mariners for over 25 years during good times and bad. He loves baseball and in addition to playing, coaching and being a fan of the game, he’s the Grandson of Gordon “Dusty” Rhodes, who pitched for the Yankees, Red Sox and Athletics from 1929-1936. Baseball is his my blood, and so is the sea after spending 20 years working on tugs and ships.

Host: Austin Gisriel—Gisriel is the author of Safe at Home: A Season in the Valley , the story of the 2009 New Market Rebels in Virginia’s Valley Baseball League. It is as much the story of what the team means to the town as it is the unlikely and improbable season on the field. Gisriel is now a webcaster for the Rebels and handles publicity for the team. He is also a frequent contributor to Hagerstown Magazine , often writing about the Sally League Hagerstown Suns. He muses about baseball, life, and other stuff on his blog of the same name at www.baseballlifeandotherstuff.typepad.com .

Host: Pat Lagreid—If there’s one thing that Patrick Lagreid is, it’s a fan of baseball. From the on-field performance to the front office decisions and the fan experience, Patrick loves watching, talking, and thinking baseball. Originally from Seattle, he currently lives in Phoenix, just a short walk from Chase Field where he cheers on the Arizona Diamondbacks. Before joining the Seamheads National Podcasting Network, he was the director of operations for the Seattle Mariners Radio Network, and currently writes for the Grand Salami magazine in Seattle. He also runs BaseballBookReview.com and BaseballOnMyBrain.com .

Host: Dan Schlossberg—Former AP sportswriter Dan Schlossberg is the author of 35 baseball books and more than 25,000 articles about the game. The 1969 Syracuse University graduate is a full-time freelance writer and broadcaster specializing in baseball and travel. His byline has appeared in Draft , Hemispheres , Hooters , USAir Magazine , and the official MLB All-Star Game and World Series programs, as well as the Denver Post , New York Post , and other major newspapers. In 2009, Dan’s baseball radio reports were featured on MLB flagship stations in Dallas, Denver, and St. Louis plus ESPN’s Cleveland affiliate. The Fair Lawn, NJ resident is managing editor and co-host of “BallTalk Radio,” a syndicated show also featuring Jay Johnstone and former Cubs publicist Bob Ibach. Dan’s latest book, The 300 Club: Have We Seen the Last of Baseball’s 300-Game Winners? , came out in April 2010. He co-authored autobiographies of Ron Blomberg ( Designated Hebrew ) and Milo Hamilton ( Making Airwaves ) and wrote The Baseball Catalog , Baseball Gold , and Baseball Bits .

Host: Chip Greene—When not reading and writing about baseball, Chip is a management consultant. A lifelong resident of the Washington, DC metro area, in the summer of 2008 he moved to Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, still close enough to retain his lifelong enthusiasm for the Baltimore Orioles. Chip is a member of SABR and writes for the BioProject website, as well as contributing to several upcoming SABR book projects. He also writes for Yankees Annual magazine. Chip’s interest in baseball history is fed by a continuous fascination with the career of his grandfather, Nelson Greene, who briefly pitched for the Brooklyn Dodgers.

Co-host: Ted Leavengood—Ted is a Nationals fan and a baseball writer who worked for Uncle Sam to pay the bills before recently retiring. He and his wife live in Chevy Chase, MD with their dog. He has two books published with McFarland and Company, Publishers and another on the way. He was recently named Managing Editor of Seamheads.com after a year and a half as a contributing writer.

Co-host: Bijan Bayne—Bayne is a Washington-based freelance writer. In July 2002, Bayne, who speaks Spanish, won the Robert Peterson Research Award for his presentation “The Struggle of the Latin American Ballplayer,”given at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in Cooperstown, N.Y. Bayne’s chapter on Black baseball in North Carolina appears in the book “Baseball in the Carolinas” (McFarland 2002). Bayne has guest lectured on the social significance of the life of Jackie Robinson each year since 1996 at The George Washington University, at classes, and events such as Charter Day 1996 and Unity Week in 1999. On June 10, 2006, Bayne was a panelist at the annual conference of Washington Independent Writers, on the topic of marketing as an independent writer.

Host: Terry Keshner—Terry is a news writer/news anchor/sports updater for WBBM Radio in Chicago. He previously spent five years working for CNN in Atlanta, before their Sports Illustrated show was shut down. In addition to his radio duties, Terry continues writing short stories, screenplays and essays on the side. His essay about owning the ugliest wallet on earth was published by the Chicago Tribune .

Co-host: Stephanie Paluch—Stephanie has worked for the MLB Network on “Thursday Night Baseball” in Chicago at Wrigley Field and US Cellular Field. She also spent a 5-month internship working for Mike North and Dan Jiggetts on “Monsters in the Morning” on Comcast SportsNet, Chicago. She helps run MLB Players charity events and is the Director of Marketing for the Doug Davis Foundation, a pitcher for the Brewers who once pitched through thyroid cancer, and together they run annual golf outings in Arizona, and bowling tournaments and meet and greets in Chicago and Milwaukee, benefiting the Miracle Leagues in order to build baseball fields for kids with special needs.
