Touring the Bases With…Ron Kittle

April 6, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

Right-handed slugger Ron Kittle belted 90 homers, drove in 247 runs and batted .337 between Double-A and Triple-A from 1981-1982 before settling in as the Chicago White Sox’s full-time left fielder in 1983.  His pyrotechnics display continued in the majors when he slammed 35 homers and drove in 100 runs in his rookie season, earning him an All-Star berth—he went 1-for-2 with a run scored in the Midsummer Classic—and A.L. Rookie of the Year honors.  He didn’t reach the heights expected of him, but he played 10 seasons in the majors, averaged a homer every 15.4 at-bats and launched seven homers onto Comiskey Park’s left field roof.
