Seamheads.com Partners With Strat-O-Matic

I’m proud and pleased to announce that we at Seamheads.com have partnered with the Strat-O-Matic Game Company to run season replays and serve as Strat’s official podcast, which will be launched later this month. Strat-O-Matic will be celebrating its 50th anniversary early in 2011 and to commemorate the occasion, we’ll be running a replay league featuring all-time great teams to be run by friends like seven-time Emmy winner Roy Firestone, Baseball America executive editor Jim Callis, ESPN fantasy expert and senior writer Eric Karabell, and MLB.com minor league and draft expert and senior writer Jonathan Mayo. We also have two high-profile potential participants who have expressed interest but haven’t committed yet, and several high-profile people to whom we’ve extended invitations.
Though Strat inventor Hal Richman won’t be able to participate in the league, he did give his full endorsement and is anxious to see who will be involved. To learn more about Strat-O-Matic and Richman, be sure to tune in to our next airing of “What’s On Second: The Seamheads.com Radio Hour” on Monday, September 6 from 9:00-10:00 PM Eastern. Hal will be our guest and we’ll discuss all things Strat-O-Matic and baseball in general.
Strat-O-Matic will also be offering a discount of their products to Seamheads.com readers. Once they’ve decided on a figure and we’ve landed more replay league participants and hammered out the details of the Strat podcast, I’ll post an update.

Yes, please I understand som is a nice game, but did anyone think of APBA—I have played all games BLM,REPLAY,SOM,BATTER-UP, NEGAMCO— BUT IN MY OPINION APBA gave me the truer stats–please help me understand thanks,

I’ve played just about every game out there as well, so I was thrilled when Strat-O-Matic approached us about launching the official Strat-O-Matic podcast as well as running replay leagues. They’ve been very gracious and generous and I’m proud to be working with them.
Isn’t it true that APBA, each pitcher only has a rating, A, B, C or D, and not an individual pitching card? I haven’t played it so I can’t compare but SOM has individual cards for everyone. And SOM gets most of it’s results from the player cards and you don’t have to consult an outside chart on every play (like APBA). I know fans of each game are very passionate and protective of their choice.
