To Santa From Red Sox Nation

Dear Santa;

Please know we remain thankful for your gifts of 2004 and 2007. We also know that you are aware the Red Sox were bad in September and naughty to Tito upon his exit. We hope you know that we fans were good all season and the Sox pitching staff were naughty and Bobby V plans to be nice. Given this we ask for the following for Christmas this year;

1) No more fried chicken or beer delivery persons allowed into the Red Sox clubhouse, ever again.

2) No more crystal clear manipulation of our emotions by ownership and the front office (see : petty assault on Tito Francona upon his exit)

3) Somebody to please take Lackey and his pompous ego off our hands as he emerges from his post operative fried chicken-haze

4) Please bring the entire team and front office some gumption and stop acting like millionaire / billionaire brats.

5) Some Cajones (3 or more) for our new GM Ben Cherington so he can finally make some hot stove staff improvements.

6) Respect and appreciation of fans by the team and front office so that we never, ever again witness a collapse of such epic proportion as September 2011.

7) A treadmill, rubber stomach reducing belt and season long pass to the salad bar for Josh Beckett.(and if you can add a dose of humble pie, it might be a dish served well this off-season for Beckett)

That concludes our Christmas wish list for this year Santa and we hope you’ve see our patience and niceness all year long. Given what we witnessed by our beloved Red Sox, we had ample opportunity to be naughty, but we chose to be nice and remain faithful, loyal and loving fans.

We’ve shortened our list considerably this year Santa in the hopes you can provide enough tweaking to our team for them to start and finish 2012 much differently than 2011.

There is milk and cookies on the mantle for you and we’ve hidden the chicken and beer in case you have the 2011 pitching staff in the sleigh along for the ride, although we realize that would make for a nearly impossible lift-off from the North Pole (because they sure brought us along for the ride last season).

We hear a clamoring up on the roof, we hope that Saint Bobby V will soon be here, with messages of strength and talent abounding.

On Beckett, On Lester, On Wakefield, Gone Lackey, dash away, dash away dash away all and bring us a gift of a team to be proud.

Sincerely,

Red Sox Nation

PS – if you could eliminate the front office spin, we would be extra good next year (we realize that is a lot to ask)
