Opening Soak
The Chicago White Sox opened the 2017 season by not opening it at all.
The Sox, Tigers and more than 30,000 wet but well-fed and generously beveragized fans spent about three hours dodging rain drops at Guaranteed Rate Field, but all we got to see was the pregame introductions which featured each Sox starter brought onto the field in a really cool new thing called a car.
Most people think the rebuilding White Sox are going to stink this year. But most people used to also think the world is flat and Nicolas Cage was talented.
So don’t doubt these Medias Blancas. At least until you’ve seen them play a handful of games. Or at least one game which, weather-permitting, will come before Arbor Day.
Sure, it could be a long season on the South Side but difficult roads often lead to wonderful restaurants. And 2019 pennants.
Weather-permitting.
One more thing: $12 noodles. Very tasty. $12. –TK
