Tuesday, May 15th – Detroit Stars at Chicago American Giants for the last game of the series, at Schorling Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Rookie left-hander Ted Shaw, 22-years-old, opposes veteran 37-year-old P/Manager George Harney.

Wade Johnson, Halley Harding and Turkey Stearnes all single to start the game and put Detroit ahead 1-0. Ed Rile hits a sacrifice fly to score Harding and make it 2-0. Jelly Gardner opens the batting for Chicago with a single, then a steal of 2nd. After a Bobby Williams out, John Hines singles in Gardner. 2-1 Detroit after one.

In the second, Claude Johnson doubles, Bingo DeMoss singles him to 3rd, and P Shaw doubles both Johnson and DeMoss in. Wade Johnston follows with a single but Detroit is unable to add to the score. 4-1 Detroit after two innings.

After a scoreless third, Ted Shaw doubles again in the 4th, and after a Wade Johnston out, Halley Harding doubles Shaw home for a 5-1 Detroit lead.

On to the bottom of the fifth, where Eddie Miller triples and then scores on a ground out to 3B Claude Johnson.  Now 5-2 Detroit.

The sixth inning is scoreless, and in the top of the seventh Ed Rile singles, then Hurley McNair advances him with a ground out. Ted Radcliffe singles, advancing Rile to 3rd, and Claude Johnson singles Rile home. 6-2 Detroit.

Harney relieves himself with Willie Foster, and the eighth is scoreless, but Chicago mounts a rally in the bottom of the ninth. Pythias Russ leads off with a walk. Charlie Williams grounds out to 1B Rile, advancing Russ to second. Jim Brown, who had entered the game at 1B in the 6th inning, flies out to CF Stearnes. Red Haley doubles in Russ. Eddie Miller grounds out to 2B DeMoss and the game ends with Detroit winning 6-3.

NOTES: Ted Shaw gets the CG win giving up 3 runs, 7 hits, 1 walk with 3 strikeouts. Shaw also goes 2-4 at the plate with 2 doubles, an RBI and a run scored. Claude Johnson is 3 for 4 with a double, RBI and run scored. Red Haley is 2-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI for Chicago.
