With so many guitarists trying to make their mark these days, it’s not easy being a “trailblazer.” Yet, that perfectly defines Tim Farrell. His fingerstyle playing and original compositions display an elegant simplicity that celebrates the purity of the acoustic guitar. Farrell is a rare kind of musician who can entertain an audience and inspire future generations of players. Tim Farrell is one of only four artists to be honored as one of the 100 Greatest Acoustic Guitarists who have also won Best Instrumental in the International Acoustic Music Awards.
He has performed worldwide and maintains an active performance schedule, appearing in a variety of concert venues such as the Kimmel Center, Montreal Jazz Festival, Carnegie Center, Hard Rock Live, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Memphis Acoustic Guitar Festival, Healdsburg Guitar Festival, Woodstock Invitational Luthiers Showcase and many more.
Farrell has performed live on many radio programs as a featured artist including Echoes and Kid's Corner , two popular syndicated shows distributed by Public Radio International and broadcast on 130 radio stations nationwide.
As a solo artist, he has shared the stage with renowned musicians Les Paul, George Benson, Jean Luc Ponty, Rick Wakeman, Alex DeGrassi, Jake Shimabukuru, John Sebastian, among others. He is also part of the trio, String Songs , which includes Bass Player Magazine's "Player of the Year" Michael Manring.
Farrell encourages the next generation of musicians to develop a deeper knowledge of their craft, to enjoy a richer appreciation of the music and to discover the sheer joy of performing. Tim conducts workshops, seminars and residency activities. He can create customized residency programs and help establish goals and objectives to fit the specific needs of a school or organization's curriculum.
