Well, Happy 95th Birthday to my dad today!  I can't imagine all the world events that he must have encountered since 1916!

I am in Atlanta at the National Hurricane Conference.  I will be learning the newest info on Hurricane Predictions and response info.  Actually, I can predict that hurricanes go where they want to and we can't stop them!!

We just got back from 5 days in the mountains of north Georgia .  It was an interesting trip.  Going up there, the grandson threw up in the car.  We get him cleaned up and then headed down the road and 10 minutes later a tire goes flat!  I put the spare donut tire on and finally get to the cabin.  A storm blows in that night but we received no damage.  Our cabin was right on top of a mountain so the wind was really blowing up there.  We went to Ann Ruby Falls just out of Helen , Ga.   It was a beautiful site.  Nature really stands out with these falls.  On the way back to the cabin a turkey almost flies into the car.  I was actually staring at him eyeball to eyeball.  We had great weather between Monday and Friday.  We headed out to eat again and the grandson throws up again in the car.  This time it was a real mess and it was raining really hard.  I hurried back to the cabin and pulled him out trying to keep the puke on him and not get anymore in the car.  Then, my wife and I spend the next hour and a half in the rain trying to clean as much out of the car as possible.  The wind is now blowing so hard it keeps slamming the doors on the car.  Denise spends a couple of hours washing out the clothes and I use a hose to wash off car mats and the car seat.  Of course, now the 5 year old now feels fine and wants something to eat!  I ONLY gave him a granola bar as that was all I trusted him with that night.  I felt blessed when the trip home was UNEVENTFUL!

Well, friends!  Larry and I made it throught the tornadoes!  We lost roofs on our deck and patio.  Lost a lot of stuff but everything is replaceable but our lives aren't and we are grateful we made it throught the 90 mile winds.

Kim and I had a wonderful 4 days away from work and the farm.  I picked out my fabric for my wedding dress.  I am sewing it myself.  I used to make wedding dresses with just a picture to go by.  Now, I get to make MINE!  Kim found his perfect wedding band and we had so much fun; no schedules, deadlines, or phones.  Shreveport was fabulous.

I have been back to work since March 21 and am doing fine.  I am so thankful that the Lord got me to the hospital in time to get that nasty infection taken care of.  I had a long recovery, but the Lord has blessed me through it all.  So, you may take my name off the "Support List".  Thanks for keeping us all united.  A little humor-  I've been feeling very much in the old 'TJ spirit recently.  With the yellow oak pollen all over my burgundy colored Buick, I've been driving in an "old maroon and gold" car!

BENEFIT for JIMMY HUGHES

What a success.  This was a labor of love headed up by Quincy Faulk and Jimmy's sister, Brenda Hughes.  There were plenty of volunteers that worked for many weeks getting it organized and completed.  Jimmy was clearly moved by the response of friends, neighbors, relatives, and classmates.  I got there at noon and saw the following classmates: Linda Eldemire, Ernie Castaneda, Anthony Roccaforte, Quincy Faulk, Debbie Borres, Ricky Hebert, Chrissy Dupuis, Randy Landry, Paula Daigle, Randy Blanchard, Janette Light, Hall Ross, Robbie Greig, Linda Yancey, Robert McClintock, and Joyce Marceaux.  I know that I am missing some that came earlier and also some that I am forgetting to name.  It was a wonderful showing of support by our great class.  Anthony tells me that he also received some donations through the mail from Mike Lawson and Larry Dubose to help with the cause.  Thanks for your welcome presence in this event.  We did it again.  We made a difference.

FAMILY GATHERING

Our family is gathering at my brother's home in Friendswood to celebrate Dad's 95th birthday.  We will be coming from Rowlett, Houston , Cypress , Bridge City , Lumberton , Huffman, and Baton Rouge to come together and reminisce.  It will be our first Easter and first of Dad's birthdays without Mom.  She left this earth last May 25th.  It still feels surreal.  Pray for safe travels for our family.

HOUSTON , WE HAVE A PROBLEM!!!!

Space City USA will NOT receive one of the retired space shuttles.  The retiring shuttles are going to Florida , California , and the suburbs of D.C.  Houston was one of more than twenty cities around the country vying for a chance to house one of the retired shuttles.  NASA plans to send shuttle Discovery to the Smithsonian once the shuttle program ends this summer.  The space agency also says Atlantis will go to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida and Endeavour will go to the California Science Center in Los Angeles .  New York gets one of the orbiters to display in Manhattan . 

US Congressman John Culberson said in a written statement, "For the last 50 years, Houston has been in the business of sending its citizens into space, and we're proud of the vehicles that our men and women pilot into the unknown.  And so it is that Space City, USA is bereaved of one of its greatest contributions to humanity and the progress of science." 

My cousin from West Orange has a solution:
After the last mission, land the thing at Ellington Air Base,  push it to Clear Lake , and dare anyone to try to come take it from us!  Possession is 9/10ths of the LAW.  Well, 10/10ths in TEXAS !  Actually, a better plan would be to block off Bay Area Boulevard and let them land right there and coast right up to the front gate of the Space Center !  Problem solved.

SUPPORT

Update from Debbie Dolce Carter :  I just returned from MD Anderson with amazing news.  My PET scan was clear!  All is well.  I don't have to go back to MDA for 4 months.  God is so good and I am so very blessed.  Prayers have been answered.  It will take awhile for blood count to stabilize and tatigue to pass.  Thanks to each and every one of you for all your wonderful prayers.  Love and blessings to you all.
