| TJ Class of '68 UPDATE 03/01/06 | ||||
| * | * | Hi again,
It has been a month since the
last update and things seem to be returning to "normalcy" slowly, but
surely. Nothing much has
been happening around here except a few ailments that have been going around. I have seen quite a few classmates out and about who mention getting the "updates" and enjoy them. But, remember that to keep it interesting, you must e-mail me so that I can include your "story" in the communication. So here goes..... +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Do
you know if there is a place that people meet that is popular at the PA>Mardi
Gras…instead of just walking up and down the street??
I want to see everybody!Less than 1 month until I am a first time grandma!! Reading those emails was very, very special! All the Rita damage is sobering!!!! All of those big trees gone. Dale Netherland said that there were at least 23 tornadoes and 140 mph winds for 5-10 hrs! Update:

I
am so sorry about the destruction caused by Rita. I do not have any family
left in the area, so I do not visit often - usually only for the
reunions, but I have been keeping up with the damage and staying in touch with friends still in the area. My son sent me a very interesting web site that I was able to locate the house I grew up in in Lakeview - WOW - amazingly it appeared that there was no damage, but lots around it. Glad to hear that everyone survived the storm. We have moved to Elgin Texas. We are very happy in a
wonderful old home. My husband and I purchased one of the older homes and
remodeled it to suit our needs and dreams. It was a lot of fun, but of
course, frustrating dealing with contractors, plumbers, electricians, etc. for
the past 5 months - but WELL worth it. I am enjoying my life here in small
town Texas.
The other day I had to go to Kirbyville and
Jasper. That was the first time that I had been to the area since the
hurricane. There were still a lot of blue roofs, damaged homes, and downed
trees. I also went to Constance Beach, Holly Beach, and Johnson's Bayou.
We have friends in Constance Beach who did fairly well. 90% of the area
was gone.

is really great to hear about so many classmates from all parts of the world!
I have been in contact with many that still live in the Golden Triangle.
It is good to hear the progress that is being made getting things back to normal
again. We have news from our family. On February 2, 2006,
Micka
and I are steppin' out and making a move to Kerrville. We have really
fallen in love with the Hill Country and have
decided to retire there. Big step, as we know no one and are very new to the area... so, if any of our classmates are living in the area, I am interested in any info concerning great places to see, EAT, etc. Sharon

I
am recovering very nicely from bilateral knee replacement My surgery date was
December 7th and I was back to work at Lumberton
High School on January 23rd. Modern medicine is a blessing. I am presently teaching (my 32nd year) ninth grade World Geography. The hair is gray, but the students keep me young and I plan on staying at it for another nine years. My youngest child, Michael, graduates from high school this May and I am one who is quite happy to be entering this new phase of my life. I am also a frequent visitor to PA as
my parents still reside there.

I
'm sorry to report that my mother passed away today,
Wednesday, February 22, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. in the afternoon. We had been in the hospital for 39 days, and I'm so thankful that I got to spend every minute with
her. She was such a selfless generous person and we will all miss her terribly. I guess I'm exhausted and extremely sad. Please pray for her and for us---we will need it. I also heard from
