Associate Dean's Office

The Associate Dean’s Office is responsible for supervising the development of academic programs and leading the strategic planning and assessment efforts of the College of Education. We maintain an environment of collegiality and shared governance. We also facilitate College improvement efforts, and provide support for the programmatic accreditation and certification process. The primary goals of the Associate Dean’s Office  are:

  • To coordinate the assessment and development of academic programs within the academic unit.
  • To communicate effectively with relevant constituencies within the University, surrounding community, and state regarding the academic unit.
  • To oversee that all divisions within the academic unit comply with institutional reporting requirements, such as course schedule building, syllabi, course inventories, fees and course evaluations.
  • To oversee all personnel matters involving academic and non-academic employees
  • To coordinate the use of facilities assigned to the academic unit.
  • To supervise and coordinate student recruitment, supervising and coordinating program marketing.
  • To support the faculty and staff who make decisions affecting the College of Education by supplying information.

Business Office

The business office provides support to the College of Education faculty, staff, and students. We oversee and assist the dean in ensuring the highest degree of fiscal responsibility. The business office works in conjunction with the Finance, Budget, and Purchasing offices to ensure the College of Education has the resources needed to provide an effective learning environment for students of UHCL.

The business office provides support for the College of Education via budget oversight, processing of new employee paperwork, travel assistance, computer, and technical support.

Office of Educator Certification

The College of Education Educator Certification Office maintains all official certification records for the college. This office also:

  • approves applications for admission to the Teacher Education Program
  • audits the Master’s Comprehensive Examination, and graduation
  • prepares deficiency plans
  • recommends candidates for educator certificates
  • tracks and reports Title II and TEA data
