In a blockbuster NBA trade Friday, the Atlanta Hawks sent All-Star guard Dejounte Murray to the New Orleans Pelicans in exchange for a package including Akron native and Revere High School graduate Larry Nance Jr.
The full trade, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, sends Murray to New Orleans for Nance Jr., Dyson Daniels , a 2025 first-round pick (via the Los Angeles Lakers ) and a 2027 first-round pick (the least favorable draft position between the Milwaukee Bucks and Pelicans).
The trade ends Atlanta's dueling banjos backcourt situation that included Murray and fellow All-Star guard Trae Young . The tandem compiled an underwhelming 55-62 record together in Atlanta.
In return, Atlanta moves forward with the veteran Nance, along with the Australian-born Daniels who showed promise in 2023-24 as a rookie, as well as two future first rounders.
The Hawks will be the fifth NBA team for which Nance has played, joining the Cleveland Cavaliers , Los Angeles Lakers, Portland Trail Blazers and Pelicans.
Nance is the son of former NBA player Larry Nance, a former Slam Dunk champion, and the brother of Pete Nance , who plays for the Cleveland Charge of the G League .
