- Alabama football is on CFP bubble. What are the Crimson Tide's odds to make playoff bracket?
Alabama football did all it could to try and remain in the College Football Playoff hunt.
After recording a third loss to Oklahoma in Norman, the Crimson Tide followed up with a 28-14 home win against Auburn in the Iron Bowl to finish the 2024 regular season.
With no SEC championship berth, all Alabama can do is wait and see what its bowl assignment will be.
Here is a look at where Alabama's CFP odds stand.
Despite three losses to Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Oklahoma, Alabama is right on the edge of the CFP bracket.
According to the CFP rankings released Nov. 26, the Crimson Tide was the second team out at No. 13. Alabama was the highest-ranked three-loss team, something that should remain the same after the Crimson Tide's win against Auburn Saturday.
According to ESPN, Alabama has a 30.1% chance to make the CFP behind teams such as Clemson (41.7%), Arizona State (43%), Iowa State (54.5%) and SMU (69.2%).
From where Alabama stands, it has the 14th-best odds to make the CFP.
For Alabama, it starts with three losses and no chance at an SEC title.
The Crimson Tide have no control over its CFP fate, especially with the CFP selection committee's capability of ranking a three-loss team that played in a conference championship over three-loss Alabama, like Georgia, Texas , Clemson or Arizona State.
A Clemson loss in the ACC championship game against SMU could give Alabama a window, especially as it seemingly holds the advantage over South Carolina and Ole Miss in terms of three-loss SEC teams.
With the winner of Iowa State and Arizona State potentially claiming one spot, the final spot may come down to Alabama and two-loss Miami.
The CFP will release one more set of rankings at 6 p.m. CT Tuesday on ESPN before the conference championship games.
The final CFP bracket will be revealed at 11 a.m. CT Sunday on ESPN.
