After signing with the Denver Broncos ' practice squad last week, 41-year-old tight end Marcedes Lewis was elevated to the game-day roster over the weekend. He then played six snaps in an 18-15 win over the Houston Texans , making franchise and NFL history in the process.
Lewis became the oldest player in Broncos history to appear in a regular or postseason game, and he became the oldest tight end to play in the NFL's Super Bowl era .
"It feels amazing,'' Lewis said after the game, via the Denver Gazette 's Chris Tomasson . "It's special and I don't take it for granted."
Now in his 20th season, Lewis is just the sixth non-quarterback/kicker in NFL history to reach that milestone, joining Jerry Rice, Darrell Green, Junior Seau, Jim Marshall and Jackie Slater.
Lewis served as the team's No. 3 tight end behind Evan Engram and Adam Trautman on Sunday. He will likely be elevated to the game-day roster again when the Broncos host the Las Vegas Raiders on Thursday Night Football later this week.
