- Alabama football QB Ty Simpson gets honest about Kadyn Proctor's pass-catching skills
Alabama football center Parker Brailsford put on his reporter's hat on Tuesday, figuratively speaking.
Following his own media session, the Crimson Tide fourth-year junior walked over to quarterback Ty Simpson 's chat with reporters and asked his own question, extending a closed fist toward Simpson as if to be holding a microphone. And of course, it was about the trick-play screen toss to offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor to help set up an Alabama touchdown in a 24-21 win over Georgia Saturday.
"So Ty, that pass to Kadyn Proctor, were you scared that he was going to drop it? Were you nervous at all?," Brailsford asked.
"No comment," Simpson said with a smile.
Brailsford then broke away from the group, laughing, saying "Cmon bro, you said you trusted him, now you're going to say ..."
"I had full confidence," Simpson interrupted. "I was just worried about the center making his call."
The light-hearted exchange wasn't the only question Simpson got about his throw to Proctor, which was officially a rush of 11 yards because Simpson's throw to the 365-pound lineman was technically a lateral. He then rumbled to the Georgia 2-yard line, setting up Simpson's 2-yard TD run for Alabama 's last points of the contest.
Simpson also revealed that Proctor dropped the pass the first time it was tried in a scrimmage. As for the Crimson Tide 's alternate plan for the trick play?
"Maybe two quarterbacks, we'll see. We'll keep you on your toes," Simpson said when asked who Proctor's backups would be for the play.
