Arch Manning put on quite the fourth-quarter performance in Week 9 to help Texas football avoid a historic upset on the road.
The 6-foot-4 quarterback helped rally No. 18 Texas from a 17-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat Mississippi State 45-38 overtime on Saturday, Oct. 25 in Starkville, Mississippi with three consecutive scoring drives in the fourth quarter.
Though he was part of the Longhorns ' efforts to tie the game, he didn't finish the game: He sustained an injury in overtime that kept him in the medical tent through the conclusion of the contest. Manning ultimately didn't need to return, as backup Matthew Caldwell threw the game-winner to put Texas ahead for good.

With Texas trailing 31-21 going into the fourth quarter, however, Manning led the Longhorns to two touchdowns and a field goal in the fourth quarter to give the Longhorns a chance to win. His first touchdown pass of the quarter came on a 6-yard pass to Parker Livingstone , while his second was a 21-yard throw to Emmett Mosley V.
