A person close to the situation confirmed the deal to USA TODAY's Tyler Dragon. The person spoke on condition of anonymity given the sensitivity of the matter.
Arguably the best offensive lineman available in free agency , Dalman joins a Bears team looking to build in year two around 2024 No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams .
Dalman is a bully in the run game and was graded fourth-overall at the position in 2024, per PFF.
The Bears needed to protect their franchise quarterback better in 2025 and beyond. Williams was sacked a league-high 68 times in his rookie year, the third-most in a season in NFL history.

This has been exhibited with two reported trades before free agency; The acquisitions of All-Pro guard Joe Thuney from the Chiefs and Jonah Jackson from the Rams .
