The Boston Celtics have waived two way forward RJ Luis Jr. per recent reporting from HoopsHype senior reporter Michael Scotto. With the move, the Celtics open up a two way spot that could be filled by one of the other players on Boston's training camp deals such as Kendall Brown and Ron Harper Jr. , used to bring on a player cut by another team ahead of the start of the 2025-26 NBA regular season, or left open for a future prospect.
Luis was picked up by the Celtics in their salary dump of Georges Niang to the Utah Jazz earlier in the 2025 NBA offseason, who had signed the former St. John's standout after he went unselected in the 2025 NBA Draft.
He averaged 2.6 points and 0.7 rebounds per game across a total of three minutes per game in as many preseason contests played while shooting 75.0% from the field overall with no free throws or 3-pointers attempted, and 1.0 turnovers and 0.3 personal fouls per game.
