Recent developments have suggested the Denver Broncos might be closing in on Burnham Yard as a potential location to build a new stadium, but the team insists no decision has been made yet .
In fact, in a recent interview with Mike Klis of 9News, Broncos president Damani Leech said that the team met with Douglas County Commissioners this month about a potential location in Lone Tree . Previously, team owner/CEO Greg Penner said Denver, Lone Tree and Aurora locations are being considered, as well as renovating the current site.
"We're looking at multiple options for locations," Leech told Klis . "The folks in Lone Tree, we actually met with them a couple weeks ago, both at the city and county level, they've been tremendous partners in helping us explore opportunities."
It's very possible that Lone Tree is a legitimate contender. It's also possible that the Broncos could be using it as leverage as they negotiate attempting to buy Burnham Yard from the state . The team's current lease at Empower Field at Mile High runs through the 2030 season. Denver is widely expected to build a new stadium -- the main question is where. Leech says all options are still on the table.
