The Denver Broncos have found their franchise quarterback in Bo Nix , and they're bringing back his backup after re-signing Jarrett Stidham last week.
Now the team is searching for a third-string quarterback.
The Broncos could find their new QB3 in the late rounds of the NFL draft or as a college free agent following the draft. The latest prospect to note is Canadian quarterback Taylor Elgersma.
Elgersma (6-6, 212 pounds) participated in Buffalo 's pro day last week with the Broncos in attendance. Denver met with the QB prospect and offensive quality control coach Logan Kilgore "gushed" about Elgersma, according to a report form SportsSkeeda.com's Tony Pauline .
Elgersma was born and raised in London, Ontario and played college football at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario. He received first-team All-Canadian recognition last season and ended his career with 10,547 passing yards and 78 touchdowns against 33 interceptions. He also rushed for 605 yards and 18 scores in four seasons.
After competing in the Senior Bowl earlier this year, Elgersma is projected as an undrafted free agent. The Broncos do not hold a seventh-round draft pick, but they do have three selections in the sixth round this spring. The NFL draft will be held from April 24-26.
