Perhaps the Denver Broncos will select a punter in the NFL draft?
After losing Riley Dixon to the to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers during free agency, the Broncos tried and failed to sign Bryan Anger (he opted to return to the Dallas Cowboys instead ). After the team missed out on Dixon and Anger, the most notable free agent still available was former Colorado State punter Ryan Stonehouse .
It turns out the Broncos " don't have interest " in Stonehouse, according to the Denver Gazette 's Chris Tomasson. Denver also isn't going after Pat O'Donnell or Michael Palardy , two other free agent punters, per Tomasson.
So, what's the plan at punter in 2025?
Alabama's James Burnip is the most notable punter in this year's draft class, and the United Football League begins later this month with eight punters aiming to impress NFL clubs. The list of punters suiting up in the UFL this spring includes ex-Broncos Colby Wadman and Marquette King . Former CFL punter Simon Laryea will also play in the UFL this spring.
With no big-name punters left on the market, Denver might be poised to have a punter competition at training camp this summer, perhaps with lesser-known candidates. It's still possible the Broncos could land a free agent. If not, attention will turn toward the NFL draft, then toward UFL signings following the spring league's championship game in June.
