Broncos Wire 's 90-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at fifth-year wide receiver Michael Bandy , No. 83.
Before the Broncos :Bandy (5-10, 190 pounds) went undrafted out of the University of San Diego in 2020, and he spent two seasons playing for the TSL Conquerors in The Spring League before landing with the Los Angeles Chargers in 2021. He spent most of his first NFL season on L.A.'s practice squad, appearing in one game and returning four kickoffs for 88 yards. Bandy saw more time on the field in 2022, playing in 10 games, starting two of them. In those 10 appearances, Bandy was targeted 21 times, catching 10 passes for 89 yards.
Following his time with the Chargers, Bandy spent the 2023 spring season with the XFL's Houston Roughnecks. Following that spring season, the XFL released Bandy from his contract so he could return to the NFL.
Broncos tenure:Bandy signed as an unrestricted free agent with the Denver Broncos in July 2023, and he appeared in one game that season, with no catches, playing a total of 10 snaps on offense and special teams ( PFR ). In 2024, Bandy spent the entire season on Denver's practice squad, without being called up to the active roster.
Chances to make the 53-man roster:Long shot. Bandy will likely remain on the Broncos' practice squad as a reliable backup option for Sean Payton's offense. With receivers like Courtland Sutton , Marvin Mims , Devaughn Vele , third-round pick Pat Bryant and Troy Franklin taking up the top spots on the depth chart, Bandy faces long odds to make the active roster going into training camp. But he could be a strong candidate to return on the practice squad.
