The Denver Broncos are adding a linebacker, but not at the specific spot that some fans expected.
After losing Alex Singleton ( thumb ) and Drew Sanders ( foot ) to injuries, the Broncos brought in four inside linebackers for tryouts , but none of them were signed. Today, Denver added an outside linebacker.
The Broncos signed OLB Garrett Nelson, according to the Denver Post 's Parker Gabriel . The news of the Nelson addition comes after rookie OLB Que Robinson did not practice the last two days. Undrafted OLB Johnny Walker is also not at practice today and the Denver Post 's Luca Evans reported Walker's dealing with an injury .
Nelson (6-3, 248 pounds) spent the last two spring seasons playing for the UFL's San Antonio Brahmas. He recorded 24 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 17 games. Nelson played college football at Nebraska.
Denver has not yet announced a corresponding move, but the team is expected to place Walker on injured reserve . If he is placed on IR, Walker will be ruled out for the rest of the season.
